Students Islamic Organisation has urged the Union government not to make the Aadhaar card mandatory for obtaining scholarships and other benefits. SIO members took out a rally in Basava Kalyan on Thursday and submitted a memorandum to the government saying that this rule would keep out majority of the students from the minority community from the social welfare net. The government accepts that only 22 per cent of students are covered under the scheme. How can a scheme based on such poor coverage be called universal?   SIO Mumbra-Kausa  started a study centre for the students of 10th and 12th in the Al-Aqsa Mosque of Tanwar nagar. Students from near by slum and residential building are using first floor of the Mosque as Study Centre. So far 25 to 30 students are studying here. Lucknow University vice-chancellor on Wednesday apologised to a BA second year student who was frisked thrice at the convocation ceremony for resembling an Indian Mujahideen terrorist.
